Did you watch the Rugby World Cup?
Well just in case you didn’t it was hosted by Japan and England won! It was a brilliant final, England versus South Africa and it got me thinking….what is our (or is it just mine?) absolute fascination with Japan and all things Japanese all about? There are so many elements of Japanese life and culture that are infamous. The animation art scene, the seasonal cherry blossom, the disciplined lifestyle and of course the amazing food to name a tiny few.
But perhaps, and I know for me, the most hypnotic of all is the exquisite and achingly sophisticated combination of traditional and uber modern that co-exists in every thread of Japanese life with such grace and steadfast authority. And it’s the same for their interiors, I really can’t think of any other culture that does it better; that mixes the tech lifestyle with glorious craftsmanship without a hiccup or stutter in sight.
So, my takeaway for all things Japanese:
